This seems like an odd combination and I’m sure a lot of people are confused by why they are being put together.
Why are they related?
Every year, right around this time of year I notice a phenomenon. The kids are getting ready to leave school, parents are getting ready to deal with them, grandparents are getting ready for the grandkids to come over. There is a lot of commotion in a lot of peoples lives.
The one thing that people seem to forget about is taking care of themselves. Doctors appointments are made and forgot. Dentist appointments can be few and far between. Chiropractic appointments, almost completely gone. This time of year that people can use to take care of themselves they seem to forget all about their aches and pains.
This has been a trend in my world since about 2010, and no matter what there is really nothing out there to change it. Looking back through the archives thinking about what seasons where good, summer almost always came in dead last. I can think of a few reasons why that is, but that isn’t the reason for me writing this today. Today I’m going to explain why this is the best time to take care of yourself.
The summer months can be full of a lot of fun and time consuming activities. Vacations, baseball games, church retreats, picnics, golfing, gardening, boating, swimming, and the list can go on and on and on. In the midst of all of these activities I find it very hard to believe that absolutely nobody hurts themselves, or needs to do something to feel better.
This is one of the happier times of year because the sun is out and people are not depressed from being inside constantly. People are more active and activity creates endorphins and that helps to fight the depression that keeps people so down during the winter.
Summertime is an excellent time of year to start truly taking care of yourself. Many people aren’t as busy as far as their work life is concerned, there isn’t the rush to get your kids everywhere, and outside the occasional vacation you are home most of the summer. Trucking the kids from pillar to post typically doesn’t happen as much, since a lot of them go to camps or things that last more than a couple days throughout the summer. So why not take care of yourself?
Summer should be the time of year used to recharge your batteries and get yourself taken care of. What better feeling is there than being completely healthy during the best time of year.
